Courtesy Visit: Ijaw Youth Council President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri
On June 23rd, I, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, Miss World Nigeria 2026, paid a visit to the Ijaw Youth Council President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, at his office as part of my appreciation tour across Bayelsa State.
I addressed the house and thanked the Chairman for his support to me and my team throughout this journey. I recalled how, on the night of the grand finale in Lagos, he came backstage and assured me he would be with me all the way, even to Vietnam. I also remembered seeing him so overjoyed at my victory, jumping with excitement for the Ijaw nation. I presented him with an award of appreciation, so that each time he sees it, he is reminded that an Ijaw daughter made him proud.

The IYC Chairman responded, welcoming everyone present. He shared that to him, this victory is far more than a crown but proof that something good can come out of the Ijaw nation. Speaking as a brother to a sister, he expressed full confidence that I will bring the Miss World crown home, and said they will celebrate me as someone of immense value to the world, with a character that impacts the younger generation. He pledged everything in him and in his office toward seeing me succeed, even better than the legendary Agbani Darego. He congratulated me on behalf of the council, and added that he would personally accompany me to see the Governor. He also commended my father for raising me well.

My entourage lead thanked the Chairman and asked him to mobilize the Ijaw nation, both at home and in the diaspora, to come out and support me.
The Chairman confirmed the request was granted, assuring that the Ijaw nation would stand behind, beside, and back me all the way on this journey.

Thereafter, the IYC chairman went ahead to take me on a tour of the ongoing construction of the IYC new secretariat enlightening me on the numerous plans ongoing to empower more youths.
The visit closed with a photo session.
