Celebrating Our Youth Skill Acquisition Award Ceremony

Under the Beyond The Label initiative, we brought together a group of dedicated young people who spent weeks learning the craft of fashion designing from the ground up — pattern-making, sewing, finishing, the whole journey from fabric to garment. Thursday’s award ceremony was our way of celebrating just how far they’ve come.

Why Beyond The Label Exists

Beyond The Label was built on a simple belief: every young person deserves a real shot at building a future, not just a title, a photo, or a moment on stage. Skills last. Opportunities compound. That’s the heart of this initiative — equipping youths with practical, income-generating skills they can carry with them for life.

The Big Moment

Our top-performing student walked away with a full fashion designing starter kit — a brand-new sewing machine, a mannequin, and a set of essential tools to help her launch her own career in fashion design. Watching her receive those tools, knowing they represent the start of something real for her, was the whole point of this initiative come to life.

Congratulations

To every student who showed up, put in the work, and pushed through the learning curve — congratulations. This achievement is yours.

A huge thank you to our partners at St. Evie Fashion House (@st.evie__) for opening their doors and their expertise to make this training possible.

And to my Miss Africa International family (@missafricainternational) — thank you for standing behind Beyond The Label and believing in what it means to invest in young people.

This is just the beginning. More skills, more opportunities, more young people stepping into their potential — that’s what’s next.
