Meeting with the Honourable Minister of Aviation
On June 30th, I had the honour of being received by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, alongside my delegation. This courtesy visit came ahead of my journey to Vietnam for the Miss World competition, and it was a conversation I will carry with me for a long time.
More Than a Crown
In our conversation, I shared the heart of my journey, not just about the crown, but about responsibility. What does it truly mean to represent Nigeria on a global stage? We talked about how platforms like Miss World naturally connect to sectors like aviation and tourism, sectors that shape how the world experiences a nation.
Speaking for Beyond Labels
I also spoke about my advocacy, the Beyond Labels Initiative, and why it is deeply personal to me. It is a call to look beyond assumptions and labels, especially when it comes to children with special needs, and to build a society where every individual is given the space and opportunity to thrive.
A Reflection That Stayed With Me
What stayed with me from the conversation was the Minister’s reflection on how aviation, tourism, and national identity are closely linked, and how representation on global stages like Miss World also plays a part in shaping how a country is seen and understood.
I am sincerely grateful for his encouragement, his practical support, and his commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is well represented as I prepare for Vietnam. It was a reminder that when a nation stands behind its own, the world pays closer attention.
Bigger Than Me
I left the meeting even more grounded in the understanding that this journey is bigger than me. It is about country, purpose, and the stories we choose to tell about who we are.
I am grateful for the support, and focused on the responsibility ahead.
